RPG Maker Horror Tilesets

RPG Maker Horror Tilesets

If you’re in the market for new sprites, tiles or maps, there are some horror sprites, tilesets and map packs you should check out. Some of these collections are very affordable, so you can get your hands on a new set of graphics without breaking the bank. These sprites and tiles are available in many different styles, and are a great addition to any RPG maker game.

Animated sprites

If you’re creating a game in RPG Maker, chances are you’re looking to incorporate animated sprites. These small but mighty little pieces of pixel art can be used to create everything from animated power-up characters to animated doors. The trick is to figure out how to best utilize these tiny gems. Here are some tips on how to do it right.

First, let’s look at the various types of tiles. There are two main types: animated tiles and non-animated. Non-animated tiles can be created manually or through the use of a resource manager. This coding gizmo allows you to import as many tiles as you like. For example, if you wanted to add some spooky house tiles to your exterior lodge, all you’d have to do is drag and drop a couple of sprites.

Animated tiles can be an even bigger pain. You’ll need to ensure they have the proper attributes. For example, if you want to make an animated door, you’ll need to be able to move it in eight directions. And don’t forget about your graphics card, which will need to be compatible with your favorite game engine.

Finally, if you really want to go for the gold, you’ll need to look for tiles with more than a handful of features. In other words, you can’t have one sprite that is a wall, and another that is a door. But, if you have two walls and two doors, you can make one door animated and another spooky.

With this information in hand, you’re ready to crank out your sprite-mouse worthy horror tile set. Remember, colour is your friend! Having an overall color theme will definitely improve the quality of your final product.

Autotiles

If you’re looking for RPG Maker Horror Tilesets, you can find a lot of great options. These tilesets are available in different game engines and can be used in a variety of games.

The Slasher Forest tileset is designed for RPG Maker VX Ace and contains characters and locations that are inspired by the Summer Camp horror. It includes 16 new Hero Characters and 4 Creepy Killer Characters with sprites.

This pack contains an extensive collection of interior and exterior tiles. The exteriors include buses, buildings, and an old fog world. The interiors are a mixture of Japanese-inspired materials, possessed objects, and bloody splatters.

Another popular RPG Maker Horror tileset is Frontier Works. Its smooth painterly style and possessed objects make it perfect for creating horror maps. You can use its splatters and bloody splatters to scare players and create scary mansions and haunted mansions.

A RPG Maker VX Ace tile set called Horror City – Sewer & Factory Tiles can also be downloaded for free. This downloadable asset pack comes in 32×32 and 16×16 versions. Featuring a wide range of interior and exterior tiles, it’s a great addition to your RPG Maker VX Ace library.

To get started, you can download the RPG Maker Tile Set Import Tool. The tool allows you to load tile set image files into Unity. However, it doesn’t import project files.

As with any RPG Maker tileset, you’re not allowed to redistribute or sell these tile sets. However, you can use them for non-commercial projects.

Ghosts sprite

A good set of Ghosts sprites can make or break your horror game. While not for everyone, it is worth taking the time to create one. It can be done in as little as a day with some elbow grease. The best part is, it will never cost you a penny. In fact, you could get a freebie if you ask nicely. You just have to be patient.

The trick is knowing where to look. While you are at it, check out the DLC offerings. For example, the Chibi Character Pack contains 24 chibi style characters in the aforementioned name. They are also available for download for the uninitiated. As you might expect, the downloads are free. Plus, you can snag a free sample of the latest and greatest RPG Maker XP if you’re lucky. This particular collection also has a suite of downloadable content including the aforementioned Chibi Character Pack and a few other tidbits. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, you could always head out to your local game store to see what they have to offer. Be warned, however, that XP is a bit of a minefield when it comes to customer service and support. But, if you don’t have a friend in the IT department to fall back on, you can always find yourself a new game or two to play online.

But, if you want to get serious, there’s a tileset out there that’s a surprisingly large amount of tiles. In addition to containing the KR Horror Kit Tileset’s best assets, it includes a few other tiles and a few extras. One of these features is a custom tileset template designed specifically for RPG Maker VX Ace.

Using the template, you can produce 64 tiles of varying sizes, ranging from small to medium. To get the most out of the template, you’ll want to use a single color for each tile.
